Prawns fry is a very popular dish all around the world. This recipe that I've put here requires just a few ingredients and makes use of ready made fish fry masala.
Shrimp fry can go as a light starter or even a main dish if served with Rice. For me, this serves as an excellent starter for any part time events :).
- Serves: 2 persons
- Preparation Time: 20 minutes
- Cooking Time: 14 minutes
- 15 -20 Pieces - Medium size Prawns
- 4 tbsp - Olive Oil
- 1 tbsp - Turmeric Powder
- 1 tbsp - Salt
- 3 tbsp - Lemon Juice
- 2 tbsp - Fish fry masala
- 1 tbsp - Ginger garlic paste
- 4 tbsp - Rice flour
- 4 tbsp - Rava (Semolina)
- 1 tbsp - Red chilly powder
1: Devein the prawns and wash them under plain running water.
2: Drain excess water from the washed prawns. You could also use a kitchen tissue to remove extra to tap dry the prawns. If they are left too moist, you won't get that perfect crispiness at the end.
3: Move the prawns to a bowl. Add lemon juice, salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Keep this aside for around 15 minutes.
4: After 15 minutes, coat the prawns with the rest of the marination ingredients. Add ginger garlic paste, fish fry masala, rice flour & salt to the bowl of prawns and mix well. Ensure that every piece is coated well.
Keep this aside for 5 minutes.
5: In a Pan, heat some oil and then keep the stove flame to low.
Now in a flat plate, take mix Rava and 1/2 tbsp salt and chilli powder. This will be used to coat the prawns before we start shallow frying them.
6: Coat each prawns piece with the Rava mixture and place them in the pan for frying. Fry each side for 7-8 minutes on a low flame. DO NOT cover the pan with any kind of a lid.
7: After around 14 minutes, move the prawns to a plate covered with oil absorbent paper.
That is it, your prawns fry is ready to be served with rice or just like that as a starter. Hope you like this dish.
