Mutton Bone broth is probably is the healthiest broth that one can make at home. Here I have added a simple Mutton Bone broth recipe that is not only delicious but also has a lot of health benefits.
Mutton broth is good for the joints [helps in joint related problems], good for the skin, Improves Metabolism, Supports Immune system functioning and helps in detoxification. Ensure that you take only the mutton bones for preparation as we do not want any unnecessary fats in our broth.
Please note that this is not the typical mutton shorba but more of a western dish called as Mutton Broth. The taste is almost the same but with a less amount of spices.
- Serves: 3 people
- Preparation Time: 20 minutes
- Cooking Time: 4-5 Hours
- 1 tbsp - Salt rock salt if possible
- 1 tbsp - Black pepper
- 300 gms - Mutton Bones
- 2 small - Carrots Cut into pieces lengthwise
- 1 stock - Celery 2 inch pieces
- 1 large - Bayleaf
- 1 medium - Onion slices
- 6 cups - water
1: Wash the mutton bones and add them to a cooking pot with 6 cups of Boiling Water. Keep this on a medium flame for around 5 minutes and keep removing the froth as it appears on the top.
2: Add the Celery, onion, carrot, salt and pepper directly into the boiling water along with the mutton pieces.
3: Lower the flame and simmer the stock for 3-4 hours. Add a cup of water after every hour as the water level reduces quickly. Folks who love yellow colored broth can add a tbsp of Turmeric powder to the mixture.
4: After 4-5 hours, turn off the heat. Use a metal strainer to remove the thick pieces that are left in the preparation. Your mutton broth is ready to be served. Depending on your taste buds, you may also add other vegetables while preparing the broth.
